Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) - total dissolved solids in the total volume of the mobile ions, including minerals, salts or metals, dissolved in a given volume of water, expressed in units of milligrams per unit volume of water (mg / l); also referred to as parts per million (ppm) - parts per million (ppm). TDS is directly related to the purity of the water quality, water treatment, and has a direct impact on whether the water is beneficial for the person; whether the water is suitable for a variety of technical and other purposes.

Parameter Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) refers to any minerals, salts, metals, cations or anions dissolved in water. TDS includes all present in the water, but molecules of pure water (H20) and suspended (undissolved) particles.

The concentration of dissolved salts in the water is the sum of cations (positively charged) and anions (negatively charged) ions.

Parts per million (ppm) - parts per million (ppm) - a ratio of weight to weight ratio of any impurity ions in the water.

Principle of work TDS meter is based on the electrical conductivity (electrical conductivity (EC)) of water. Pure H20 has virtually zero conductivity. There are also systems measure other ppm; for converting units of Conformity, see. See table below.
